Is it possible for gays to be treated as equals in society without recognizing same-sex marriage?

And if it isn't, and people are unwilling to allow same-sex marriage, then does this set the whole movement backwards? Is it possible for gays to be treated as equals in society without recognizing same-sex marriage?
no, either we are all equal with equal rights, or we are not!Is it possible for gays to be treated as equals in society without recognizing same-sex marriage?
They already are treated as equals. Name one right that homosexuals don't get that others do ? Keep in mind marriage is not a right, and even if it was, marriage is between a man and a woman, not two men or two women. Also keep in mind homosexuals can engage in this institution called marriage if they find a partner of the opposite sex.

If homosexuals want to practice their perverted behavior in the privacy of their bedrooms, there's not really much I or others can do about it. However, don't ask me or other tax payers to facilitate their perverted behavior by calling it marriage, and giving them the same benefits hetero sexual couples receive. God bless.
Until gays are afforded the same priviledges of being able to marry whom they wish, they won't have equal rights. Anyone who thinks that gay couples are currently given the same rights as straight couples is just ignorant and backwards bigots.

Homosexuals should have the same rights to be stuck with the same person as straights are.
Only if we get rid of the hundreds of ways our laws give benefits to married couples that same sex couples wouldn't receive.
No, because then they wouldn't have complete equal rights.
Civil union.

of course not
