I don't believe it boils down to defending premarital sex or supporting it. I think most are being realistic in accepting that teens do in fact have sex. More importantly I am impressed with her supporting her daughter and helping her to do the right thing- to marry the father and raise their child. So do most Republicans defend sex before marriage or is that just when it involves their candidate?

She made a mistake and she took responsibility for the child that she made with Levi. we are defending the action she took after the fact. We're not all that happy that she had sex before marriage. but when life gives you lemons-make lemonade. she stuck with the pro-life theme. she is pro-life and we are proud of her for making that decision. and she's marrying the father.
';Conservatives'; and Republicans have nothing to do with what you are implying. The term has to do with fiscal policies and a belief in the free market economy. Not about moral and social issues. You need to read up. Most Republicans are moderate on social issues and could care less.
Of course their tune has changed. It's called Karma, you get back what you put out (no pun intended). I really feel for this young girl, because her mom's position and statements when referring to other teens in the same situation are not positive, and she is unwittingly thrown into the spotlight as well. You don't hear Cheney referring negatively to homosexuals anymore do you?
NO, we defend responsibility and accountability. If people want to ';choose'; to step across boundaries than they should accept the consequences and not ';choose'; to take a life that they took the time to have a little ';fun'; and cop out on their responsibilities.

We defend the privacy of children, personal responsibility and don't say that people are punished with babies.
We shouldn't defend sex before marriage. Rather, we should be forgiving and love the person in spite of their failure.
