How can a minor prove they are emancipated through marriage in Illinois?

I'm fifteen, pregnant and getting married on my Birthday. I was wondering how I will be able to show that I am legally emancipated through marriage. Would i have to carry around my marriage license? A special ID card? HELP?!How can a minor prove they are emancipated through marriage in Illinois?
Your marriage licence/certificate will do. By the way, try and get married BEFORE you give birth as then you will be able to make the medical decisions yourself and not defer to your parents. Also, in the state of Illinois, being pregnant and/or giving birth are NOT grounds for emancipation. Many people think that this is grounds for emancipation but it seldom is.

Also, are your parents consenting to your marriage? If not, you will need a judge's consent. You can read about it here:

The Illinois laws on emancipation can be found here:

Good luck! How can a minor prove they are emancipated through marriage in Illinois?
You will only need the proof when it comes time to rent an apartment or to enter into any kind of contract. At that time you will need your marriage certificate.

It will not make you able to buy alcohol or any other thing that you must be a certain age to do, only remove the presumption that you are not legally responsible to enter into a contract.

Being emancipated is not the same as being an adult for purpose of entering an X rated movie either.

Good Luck
Your marriage license and your ID will do it, In addition, many states recognize giving birth as emancipation, so if you're getting married for that reason, just wait till the baby is born, either way, you are on your own.

The answer to your question is yes, you will have to carry wround your marriage license. Some palces may believe that you are emancipated, others will require proof.
any state issued ID card will do the trick
