When applying for marriage licenses, should men be advised that they will have limited legal rights in court?

In the interest of full disclosure, shouldn't men be at least handed a pamphlet advising them that:

a) their wife is likely to initiate divorce proceedings

b) they will end up in divorce court, where the man will have limited legal rights compared to his soon-to-be ex

c) that he will relinquish most of the involvement in the raising of his children, and will likely have to pay an onerous amount in child support, which the woman can spend as she chooses, with no accounting of how it is spent. When applying for marriage licenses, should men be advised that they will have limited legal rights in court?
The two posters above me are completely missing the point. The fact is, if you're a man in a divorce, you're probably going to get screwed in a divorce because courts favor women considerably more than men.

That includes divorces where there is no abuse or anything of that nature.

Whoops forgot to actually answer the question. I think most of us by now realize that men are usually the ones who lose out, so this seems kind of unnecessary. When applying for marriage licenses, should men be advised that they will have limited legal rights in court?
LOL and they said romance was dead??
Great use of government resources, copying and handing out info on how awful marriage is for men. To be fair and equal, one side of the pamphlet should let women know how rotten marriage is and the other side should let men know how awful marriage is. That way both men and women will be advised of their limited legal rights in the dissolution of their marriage.

Just do us all a favor, and don't marry, so we don't have to listen to how awful marriage is, your partner is, blah blah blah. FYI: Not all marriages end in divorce, not all men make more money than their wives, and not all marriages involve kids.
While I understand the sentiment on this issue, I am a believer in the ';caveat emptor'; school of thought on the marriage issue. There are an ample amount of published studies out there for young men to research and learn from that should teach them the potential pitfalls of marrying without a legal agreement (pre-nuptial) to protect their rights.

Basically...if you're dumb enough to buy the cow when you can get the milk for free, then you better be sure the cow isn't going to run off with the farmhand and steal all your corn meal and all your chickens and goats!

Sassy: Again with your nonsense? Please make an effort to sober up before you begin posting :)

Oh...I see RoVale has once again decided to present proof of her total and absolute idiocy. Thank you, you dolt. I appreciate my own meager intelligence level more and more each time I read your moronic rantings.
That is for them to find out from their lawyer before they get married.
So don't get married! I don't see anyone holding a gun to your head forcing you guys to get married. These 'questions' are merely a thinly-veiled disguise for a misogynist rant.
Yes, that would be fair! Watch the thumb downing and lame excuses on this one!
I genuinely think this would be a sincerely good move.

ETA: Does spassy realise that less than 3% of female initiated divorces have anything to do with her hate speech?
No, they should be advised they have no rights in court, only responsibilities.
and since he is so dumb he should also be told that having extramarital affairs, drunken voilence against wife and verbal and physical abuse result in the above
Only if the woman gets a handout stating that:

a) her lifestyle will plummet and if she gets the house, she probably will have to sell it

b) a lot of men won't pay child support or do so only sporadically

c) her ex-husband very likely will turn his back on their children once he's remarried and started a new family

d) he may fight for custody of the children but only as a way to try to get back at her. He doesn't really want them and if he does win custody, he will turn them over to his mother or another female relative to raise

Like it or not, I have seen all of these situations occur. If men gets these pamphlets, then the women should too.
You mean there aren't any at the courthouse?
wow.. someone's bitter. i didn't realize there was anything wrong with paying for the well being of your children.
