Do Civil Unions in CA have the same rights as marriage as provided by FEDERAL government?

No I don't want info about state recognition, I'm aware that state extends virtually all the same rights to both Civil Unions and Marriage.

I want to know if Civil unions get the same rights provided for marriage by the Federal government if marriage gets Federal recognition and rights.

I don't want anyone to try and change my mind because that's beyond the question and useless, I just want straight up answers with a source. Do Civil Unions in CA have the same rights as marriage as provided by FEDERAL government?
As already stated, no, the federal government does not recognize gay marriage/civil unions (due to the Defense Of Marriage Act), regardless of state recognition. That means they can鈥檛 file joint federal tax returns, they can鈥檛 collect social security survivor benefits if/when their partner dies, etc.Do Civil Unions in CA have the same rights as marriage as provided by FEDERAL government?
No, they do not.

The federal government gives zero benefits to same-sex couples, whether they have a marriage or civil union in their home state or not.
