Why do women cry so excessively at marriage proposals and weddings?

I'll agree that a marriage proposal may make a women very happy, so will a wedding. So broad smiles, sparkling eyes, and maybe even a tear of joy can be understood. But sometimes I think that women go way over the top with tears and emotional reaction. Why is this? Why do women cry so excessively at marriage proposals and weddings?
Wedding proposals- it's a surprise, and all the attention goes to you, and it's a supper rush

Weddings- I blame all the excitement before hand. All the stress of planning added with everyone staring at you, little sleep, not eating properly before hand, a high rush of excitement mixed with nerves and happyness, and knowing that your finally getting married. Why do women cry so excessively at marriage proposals and weddings?
Well some women always dreamed of finding a person to be loved by. They dreamed of the perfect wedding of the perfect proposal and many other things. And when they finally get that. They finally get that dream they've been searching for. It's everything to them. That emotion of being perfectly happy and nothing can go wrong can be overwhelming. The tears are little bits and pieces of their love, relief, and happiness that they finally got what they wanted when it seemed immpossiable.
I can't speak for all women, but I can speak for myself in saying that I am a pretty emotional person in general. A proposals and weddings are HUGE emotional milestones. So they make me even more emotional that I normally am. Tears for me come with any huge rush of emotion, where I am feeling something so intense and I am having trouble letting it out there are always tears. I could be sad, happy, or even angry if the emotion is intense I will cry. The more intense the more I cry.
I was proposed to yesterday and I didn't cry... I was of course happy and excited, but surprisingly calm. I guess because he basically told me he was proposing soon and it was obvious he was going to propose when he did :-p

I do cry reading proposal stories or watching movies though :-)
its like knowing that a man loves you so much that he wants to spend the rest of his life w/ you and knowing that he loves you more than anyone in the world!
You obviously have never had ';feelings'; for a woman with much intensity.
Some women are just criers. I don't cry at weddings because I just don't express my emotions like that.
I would get emo as well. It is natural and exciting.
it is a woman thing
They are sad that their own dreams have not come true.
