My friend is from Egypt and his wife is from the USA. They were married in Egypt and he was granted a 2 year marriage visa. What happens if they were to divorce before the 2 years is up, and is there a way he could stay in the USA possibly on a work visa? Please help me if you have any knowledge of this and also any links would be helpful. Thank you! What happens if a divorce occurs during a marriage visa?
Its possible after the divorce is final ... But use a lawyer
Its still 2 year
Magnusfl is talking nonsenseWhat happens if a divorce occurs during a marriage visa?
Okay, I know I should just let this pass, but I have to point out to you that if he leaves her for you, he will leave you for the next one. If he loved her enough to leave his country for her, but he has fallen out of love with her within two years, what makes you think anything with him will last? If he was just using her, why would you want to have anything to do with him? How can you respect a person like that, much less love him?
It sounds like fraud to me so it will probably sound like fraud to the people who decide his fate after the divorce. And if he stays with her until the conditions are lifted, again, how can you respect him?
You can either file for an uncontested divorce or a no-fault divorce if you aren't going to be in the US when your going through the divorce procedure.
After divorce, his work visa will still be valid until it expires then he will have to renew it by getting his employer to sponsor him. It's a simple legal procedure really.
possibly if abuse what the case for the divorce other wise slim chances of staying here
PS it and it three years now due to the perceived abuses of the immigration visa which is why the us is being very tough on then now
