Long before any Christian influence?
I think 'marriage' came to be, not because some guy wrote it in a book, but because people naturally want to stay together, and from this natural attraction evolved the desire to proclaim and celebrate commitment, which many cultures for thousands of years identify as 'marriage'.
I think this explains why marriages have existed long before the writing of genesis, and existed in cultures all over the world which did not have any christian influence.
How do you explain it?If Marriage is Christian why has it existed in a variety different cultures all over the world for millenniums?
It's not specifically a Christian institution, it's not even a religious institution in many cultures, since communist states are officially atheist. If Marriage is Christian why has it existed in a variety different cultures all over the world for millenniums?
Marriage is a verbal contract between a man and a woman and if they want to put it on the books by getting a Marriage License from the State they can do that , Religion doesn't have anything to do with it really unless the couple getting Married want to include a religion in there relation ship . Religion in Marriage as in life is a personal thing .
If you think it's only seen as a christian practice why do we have to apply for a marriage license with the courts?
I think Christians just want the marriage to be blessed in/by God's church to make it enternal? But that doesn't seem to be working haha
Marriage as we know it comes strait from the bible.the marriages you speak of are not the same thing and in many cases isn't even called marriage.each culture has its own form of marriage, ours comes from the christian bible
I don't think marraige is just a Christian ritual. Every culture and religion celebrates it in some way, shape, or form. The only difference being the way is done, and what exactly it means.
The only people who think marriage is christian also think there were dinosaurs on Noah's Ark living peacefully with chickens and wendigo's. Marriage long predates judaism and christianity.
Nobody said it was Christian. Liberals always bring up Christians when discussing it though. So I guess you are misinformed.
The standard idea of marriage today is based of the christian ideal.
Stop attacking the church.
It's actually based on an old pagan ritual. I don't know the name of it. Christianity adopted it and tweaked it to their standards.
Because their religion is trying to co-opt it for their own purposes as they've done with so many things.
Wait for the answers of because it was invented by their phony god...
Its called ';conditioned response';
Christians are just in denial. They like to think they control the world. Its why they're Republicans.
Because it is not solely a Christian institution.
