What are your thoughts on this matter? Other theories?
Just like the Simpsons Mayor Quimby from Springfield wanted ';hob gobs of gay green.';
';We shall legalize gay money. I mean gay marriage.';
I know the Advocate also ran an article about this.Do you think some states are legalizing gay marriage for equality or economy?
Marvelous question! I think it's a healthy combination of both. It's win-win; money is good and equality is better. I also think a little bit of it is competitive... a state legalising gay marriage is seen to be more libertarian and socially progressive than other 'backward' states. It's good for the people, it's good for the economy, and it's good for the state's reputation/image. Hey, I have an idea... why don't they all do it?! hahaDo you think some states are legalizing gay marriage for equality or economy?
I think it could be a bit of both.
It's for equality because America's opinions are changing, more and more people are fighting inequality and standing up for their rights. Also, it is usually gay people looking for equality which demand gay marriage from their states.
However, there is a bad economic climate right now, and it does make sense to get more people married to generate more money.
Personally, I don't care if gay marriage is legalized for the right reason or the wrong reason. As long as it is legalized and doesn't get banned after the economy is healed, I'm happy.
I doubt it. Gays can be as frugal as anyone else. Legalizing gay marriage would only allow gays to spend money on what, a wedding ceremony? I hardly think that's going to help the economy out much. Gay couples already spend money on food, clothing, housing, vacations, luxury items, etc. and those have nothing to do with legal marriage. About the only thing the states with legalized gay marriage gain is interest from gay tourists from out-of-state, but that isn't going to be a significant amount.
i think this day in age anything is possible. I'd like to think it is for equality, so thats they way I will think about it. Either way, it is a great thing!!, personally, seeing Obama, and the way he speaks and conducts himself, it is for equality.
