During a wedding, if someone objects to the marriage what does that mean?

If someone does object, does that mean the wedding is called off? Or is it just a time for the person to publicly announce how they feel?During a wedding, if someone objects to the marriage what does that mean?
The phrase is 'speak now or forever hold your peace.' It's not so much about people speaking up then as it is about keeping their objections to themselves later. If someone does object, then you either continue or you don't.During a wedding, if someone objects to the marriage what does that mean?
Well it means that somebody has a gripe about the union. It also means the person will probably wind up embarrassed since I have never seen an objection actually stop two people from getting married. All they accomplish is having the 250 wedding guests talk about the nut case that objected to the marriage during the reception.

Unless of course the bride is pregnant with someone else's baby......
it depends upon the religion. in some it means that the couple cannot get married until the reason for the objection is resolved. in some it just means that the person announces their objection and is able to explain why (its meant so that the bride and groom know BEFORE they are married instead of being trashed later.), in some it means nothing at all. just that someone has issues. but a lot of ceremonys dont even have that in there anymore.
They never do, but if they do it doesn't matter the marriage will proceed. This is just a ';say something or forever stay shut up about it'; type of scenario. I would say this though, if they do object they (or if you feel like they might) they shouldn't be at your wedding to begin with.
It means the grooms men drag the son of ***** out and beat him with sock filled with batteries. And it means they are announcing how the feel.
Objecting just halts the marriage for a minute. If the bride and groom still want to continue, they can.
they need to give their reason on why the couple shouldn't get married, if who is marrying the couple decides its a good reason, then maybe it will be called off........ why are u getting married and have secrets or something?? huh huh
the marriage will be postponed until it is resolved.
That has fallen out of usage, except for movies. It's probably been twenty years since I've heard it.
its time for them to be escorted out.
To me it means they shouldn't be there.
